SVCD without subs + .srt/.sub file -> SVCD with perm. subs

Hi everyone !
I have an SVCD with French audio, and I have a .srt file with the English subs for it. I would like to obtain from these a mpeg file with permanent subs, using the .srt subs. What's the easiest and quickest way to do that (hopefully, I won't have to reencode the video) ?

if you want permanent subtitles you will have to reencode your video. Since permanent are actually put into the video. the only way you can try to put subs into a svcd without reencoding is using SVCD or CVD subs if your DVD player supports them.
