View Full Version : Can IFO Edit do this?

If so, I will do searches and read all guides to find my problem. From what I have looked at so far, it doesn't pertain to my situation.

I authored a DVD using Pinnicle's Impression DVD-Pro (word of advice, for menu extensive projects do not use it) and the DVD works differently in the program preview, computer, and my DVD player. I have like 14 menus with 6 clips on each menu, when I select a clip... it plays, but if I fast-forward or skip clip it brings me back to the main menu instead of the menu I selected it from.

When I open the IFOs in IFOEdit and try playing the DVD I recieve Errors (DVD Warning: An illegal navigation command was entered). Is there a way I can edit the IFOs so once a clip is played it can return to it's original menu instead of ROOT? I have like 60 clips to do this to, so I can see it being a nice little project to finish properly.

Thanks

Of course it can, but not automatically. You will need to invest some time tracking down the bad commands. And there is no guide for this, or a million other things you can do with IfoEdit, simply because it is so versatile.

95% of the info around is for DVD ripping, I think I need to stop using crap DVD authoring programs and upgrade to NT/XP software.

Well, the good authoring stuff was developed for NT (They even put "NT" in the name). IfoEdit is just now coming into the authoring arena, and is a long way from being able to author a project like yours. It could fix it, but very time consuming with 60 clips.

Yea I figured that from the beginning and I'm not worried about that, I just see it not worth it at this point to do this to all my DVDs authored with this program. It's obviously the program's wrong doing and not giving me the results I ask of it (nothing special, just what it is supposed to do).

I've looked into ReelDVD, Spruce Masestro, etc and hear all good things from people using them.

Maybe just for this one time I should use IFOEdit (used it once for a small problem and it worked great, but that was for a DVD rip), I just need to look into it alot more. From Derrow's website there is alot of info for main movie and 2 DVD ripping, not much on independent work to fix authoring problems. So I do not doubt IFOEdit and I'm not afraid of the work and time, just is it worth it.

Thanks again.
