i read through the threads according to that filter, but one fact isn't clear still.
is it 'better' to use it before LanczosResize or after?
according to speed issues obviously after Resize, but according to quality?! is it worth the quality to place it before resize?
please one short answer - haven't got that experience (btw used temporal smoother always before resize)

Answer: applying convolution3d before resize is better (imho) to preserve more details ;).

edit: but why open more and more threads for such questions which can be discussed in one of the already existing convolution3d threads?!

wow - thx for that really fast answer - saves a lot of encoding time & testing (since i'm using still P3).
and if it's slower i don't care since i do it on my 2nd pc over night and quality is certainly the highest priority.
so far

My opinion is Convolution3D first and LanczosResize next.
That way, I can higher a little the threshold (to clean the movie) and keep a sharp result.
Just my 2 cents

so i nevertheless have to test ;)
thx for your fast answers again...

*EDIT*
@iago: sorry for open another useless thread, but now i know that the question isn't that easy and clear to answer.
have read through threads, but it wasn't that clear to me.
someone should close the thread now

@AcidJunkie
Just to prevent a possible misunderstanding: Both vlad and I have suggested using convolution3d "before" resize ;).

In my experience I've yet to see "any" type of denoising filter such as C3D not perform better before resizing. Yes it's slow but the quality should be better.

yes - i finally got it - mixed the things up.
btw. fixed 1.0 version is out and i'm going to test it right now.
thx

Because I don't want to wade through the encyclopedia britannica to get the answer. A clean forum can be efficient, but attempt to make it too clean, and you end up with gross inefficiency. For instance, because I'm aware of the policy that you're not to ask a question that's been asked before, I sometimes research for 30 minutes to 2 hours to answer to a question I have, that could just as well have been answered more efficiently by posting a question (that takes 1 minute) and then waiting for someone to spend the time typing in an answer (1 minute).

You still can post a redundant question in an existing thread instead of starting a new one. For example, there are so many convolution3d threads (with generic titles) around, I keep forgetting which one contains the post from vlad59 I want to look up.
