I have a quesiton. With technology being so advanced, why don't they make dual layer DVD discs for consumer usage so it would be easy to copy a DVD. Will they ever come out with dual layer discs in future???

(i have also removed your other post with the Poll, which seems to be very useless, and asks basically the same as this one)

Thanks....that helped a lot. But I still don't understand one thing. If burning a dual layer disc is not possible, then how do the DVD manufactured do it???

manufactured discs are not written by changing the die on the bottom of the disc, they are 'stamped' out from a 'Glass Master', and is much faster than burning a disc.

dual layer discs are made from two 'Glass Masters' and basically glued together (for a non technical explanation).

for a more detailed explanation i think the dvd faq (www.demystified.com/dvdfaq.htm) might have one, or a link to one.
