I was wondering in the second pass section (in the cce guide on doom9)it says we can also use the global bitrate method......and that this would increase the global size of the final output file.....so when u want to do that which settings do u increase in the global bitrate section:

These are the settings in the guide:
Avg:2000
Min:0
Max:9800
Bias:0

Lets say i want my output file to be larger (and with more multiple passes better in quality)...what would i have to change from the settings above?

Does Logically having a larger file size mean better quality ..or would it be better instead to use the local bitrate + global bitrate together with an increase in the passes instead???

Just wondering which way i should go for????

Increasing the Average bitrate will result in the most noticable file size increase or decrease. Generally speaking the larger the file the higher the bitrate is. For a slow moving drama you probably wouldn't need a very high rate but for an action movie, I like to set it as high as will fit.

AVG is average bitrate
MIN is minimum bitrate

the AVG (average) is the one you change.

THNX Now its clear:)....so lets say for the first pass i use the robshot method and then for the second if i put the average to about 4500....is that too much with a 5 pass vbr...to get a great quality ..or would i not have enough space left on tha DVD-R???

when you hit the 'advanced' button, another screen pops up (per the guide)

in the lower right hand corner, it shows the total file size of the project. Every change you make is reflected.

Just remember you still have add the audio back in.
