My experience ...

Simple ac3 files - without video- can be read on Pc and Dvd Players.

I encode my mp3 CD-extracted file to ac3 files with Ac3Machine.
The ac3 files burnt on a CD can be read like that on my Dvd Player connected to the TV set speakers. The result is impressive compared to a mp2/mp3 stereo sound.

PowerDvd4 can be used as well an ac3 player. You simply have to load the ac3 file. The result is excellent.

hi,

thanks for your experience, but i don't want to install PowerDvd4 just to play my ac3 file (i know that it can do a lot more) :(

let's say i have two ac3 files, 1.ac3 and 2.ac3
i do know that there is an english track, and a german track
is there a tiny player to reveal which one i have to choose for my authoring purposes, i don't mind at all about the quality

thanks :)

Of course, you can use any Dvd player, like Zoomplayer which is a freeware, but the trick is that PowerDvd, like any other similar player gives you a DD Surround sound which is an improvement compared a simple stereo sound.
