I'd like a command line tool that will dump video files out on the 1394 firewire port. On the other end I'll have a dv-capture unit that will "record" the output.

The most important thing is that I need to setup batch files that will dump various files in order to the 1394 out port.

Any ideas for tools? Any OS at all will be acceptable...

I -think- scenalyzer (http://www.scenalyzer.com/) does that.

Had a look at scenalyzer - what it does is take one .avi file, and split it into several .avi files. Not really what I was looking for. Anyone got any other ideas?

As I said, I could go linux, beos, netbsd, anything with this. All I really need is a system where I can issue:

dvdump file.avi

(with optional parameters)

It can be done with scenalyzer live, at least one file at the time, I'm not sure about the batching possibility of several files.

A freeware tool called DVIO can also be used but it is only one file at the time. You can use a DV Editor like Ulead Mediastudio Pro or Adobe Premiere to export the timeline to your camera.
