Dear Forum,

Anyone try to use the alternative driver for SBLive/Audigy from
kX Project ?
http://www.kxproject.spb.ru/index.php

I hope someone would share experience if already try that driver,
since the Creative's support for Live/Audigy is very bad.

A long long time ago when I actually used or was forced to use Creative cards the kx drivers were definitely more stable IMHO. I suppose the same could be said about the very nice Omega version of Nvidia drivers now too:)

Thank you for the reply,
last night I try to use the latest Kx driver,
it's OK with stereo mp3 and ogg, but problem with 5.1 ac3 :(
So, I stay with the Creative's driver.

Hi,

I also had a problem with AC3 in Windows 2000 using the kX driver. Also the latest Creative driver from August resolved nearly all my problems (apart from Vorbis 5.1). As far as I know also Direct3D and EAX aren't implemented fully, so when you play a game...

Cheers,

Sorry ookzDVD, I should have mentioned I really only used the driver with SPDIF so didn't thoroughly test it.

Check this page out also- http://alive.singnet.com.sg/tech/passthrough.htm

@MaTTeR,
It's OK, no problem at all ;)

@tiki4,
Hi, nice to see you reply my post,
I think we have the same problem ;)
Vorbis 5.1 still not working without ChannelDownmix filter.

I'm still waiting the next Creative's driver update, but I dunno when :( I hope the release of Audigy 2 will make new progress on the driver development ;)

@ookzDVD:

Sorry, was some time off due to much work. Anyway, when I think that Creative usually needs at least one year to produce a stable driver for a new product then the release of Audigy 2 doesn't give me too much hope. AFAIK Audigy 2 is also based on a totally different chipset than Audigy 1.
5.1 Vorbis still doesn't work that's true but I've got something better. I'll post soon. I have to test a little more but it seems to be possible now to have several AC3 streams in OGG container (with latest OggDS 0.9.9.5).
