Hi all!
am ripping a DVD and processing/encoding it with the DVD2SVCD swpack. i have followed all guides regarding svcd authoring, so i*ve done thing by the book.

my problem is that as i click on "Rip and Convert" i get this error message: " is not a valid integer value

and the sentence above indeed refers to the character _ " _

what does this mean and can it be fixed?

thanks in advance!

It is a bug in DVD2SVCD. Go to the DVD2SVCD Advanced forum, and do a search for "dvd2svcd beta" and you should find a topic quickly enough with a link to the latest beta release, in which this bug has been corrected.

thanks for your quick answer!

couldn't find any working link to a beta version.

i have the DVD2SVCD ver. 1.0.9 build 3. are you saying there is a newer beta version of this built available that fixes the problem?

thanksin advance for your help!

bad news... downloaded the exe file, replaced my old one with this one, followed svcd guides but still i get the same error:

- 10/8/02 10:22:12 AM
- DVD to SVCD Conversion
- DVD2SVCD ver. 1.1.0 build 1 Pre 22
--------------------------------------------------------
Initializing
'' is not a valid integer value

any ideas what is it that i'm doing wrong here?

thanks guys!

so you can't even start encoding?
it looks like the dvd isn't even being initialized...usually the first thing in the log is "key found: XXXXXXXXXX" where XXXXXXX is the dvd key. Check your dvd again to make sure it is readable...also make sure you having dvd ripping enabled...finally make sure you have the correct aspi layers installed and also that the dvd is being authenticated. try to open the dvd in powerdvd first and then click the convert button.

that's about all i can think for now

I think you should uninstall and reinstall dvd2svcd. Seems that some values in the ini file is empty.

ok i will try.

however, i tried ripping the dvd separately with smartrippen then process it with dvd2svcd, this didn't work either... same error:

- DVD to SVCD Conversion
- DVD2SVCD ver. 1.0.9 build 3
--------------------------------------------------------

i'll let you know if the problem disappears with a re-install.

hi there, thanks for your answer. indeed i get a dvd key:

Drive is type 1 (no DVD drive), no need to authenticate - OK.
Key found: D749F46235

and yes, it stops right at the beginning, not even ripping begins.

Does this happen with all DVDs, or just this specific title?

Are you in a position where you can reinstall Windows, should it come to that? (i.e. everything you need is backed up, etc.) This tends to be the ultimate problem-solver, but is also an extreme time-consumer. It's a last resort ;)
