Hi folks !
Am new around here and its a fantastic forum with lots of great ideas.
I had some problems backing up Monsters and I got my answers using "Search" !
( Yeah - it works well !! ).
OK - my current problem --> I've encoded and burnt about 10 movies using Nero ( 5.5.9.0 ) - the media I used was Memorex CD-R ( 80min / 16x ).
Worked fine - no issues at all.
I bought more Memorex recently ( same 80min / 40x rated ) -- this one does not work with Nero --> Nero just hangs ( sometimes at 3% and other times at 5% ) -- I cannot even do the 1:1 copy using Daemon tools. It hangs even then.
--> I use DVD2SVCD (latest ) to create cue/bin files and burn it as an Image in Nero.
CDRWin 5 seems to handle the 1:1 copy - though it takes much more longer than Nero.
BTW, I've always burnt at 4x.
I did a search and found no known issues --- is there something known using Memorex and Nero ?? - I can't quite get it as I've used the Memorex before ( it was rated at 16x - the new one is 40x ) with Nero.
I've even updated Nero to 5.5.9.14 - no luck.
Computer Specs:

Win 2K ( SP2 ), 384Mb RAM, P3 1Ghz, about 20Gb free disk space.
Plus DVD drive and of course, CD/RW drive.
