Hi all, here is source and exe for tooLAME that I use on my windows machine.

I changed one #DEFINE to fix a problem where it was crashing now and
then on my WinXP machine.

I also added code to show what percentage is done of encoding
process.

PS: exe is in Release dir...

Hi, I have a curious question: Is toolame still under development or not? It's a lot of time since the last version.

I've got a nice option that the toolame developers should consider: improve the VBR! It would be nice if the vbr is like LAME vbr (so I can definite a min Bitrate and a MAX bitrate). I tried it many times on current version of toolame or using Besweet, but I can't choose the MAX bitrate. It's very important in SVCD (since there's a total bitrate limit to stay under. If I set a max bitrate to 160 kbs, then I set the Video bitrate under 2560, but if I don't know what is the max used bitrate you understand ...)
My goal is produce my SVCDs giving the max bitrate as possible to VIDEO, still keeping a good sound. I know that in many movies there are lots of silent parts and I know that rumours and noise is easier to compress than music. So VBR would be the choice for me.
I have already read many posts about it, but it seems that nobody is working on it? Am I wrong?

Thanks

Officialy, Mike Cheng (the creator of Lame) is working on it. But seems he more or less abandoned the project.

VBR is said to be still beta, and I think it shouldn't be used for other than testing.

From the documentation:
VBR mode is currently fragile and experimental. It works in simple situations on 32/44/48khz files. It has not been tested with LSF.

I tell you this because I saw that LAMEenc is the Best MP3 encoder ever seen, while TooLAME has to be improved. I know that is not easy, but I'd help the developer if I am a programmer (but I'm not so I can't help :( )
