View Full Version : deinterlacing mpeg2 file

After processing "Ice Age" DVD (cartoon, PAL, aspect ratio 4:3) with DVD2SVCD, I checked the output file (I do not create image fiels, but I like to have one large MPEG2 file, which I cut it where I find it suitable) and I found that it was interlaced (I did not check "de-interlace" check-box before running DVD2SVCD). Therefore, the result is not looking good...

My naive question - and, probably, a theorethical one - is: is it possible to re-process the output file (and save some spent time), in order to de-interlace it, or the whole thing has to be done again, from the beginning (vob files, DVD2SVCD run - rip, dvd2avi,...a.s.o.)?

Thanks

the fastest way for you to fix that movie is for you to do it over again.

depends on what you did and what you have left

Hi-

There's a good chance that you won't have to deinterlace when you reencode, but can return it to its original progressive form. If it's just a question of field shifting, or displaced fields, then Decomb's Telecide can handle it easily. You might try by taking the .avs and adding the Decomb Plugin and Telecide() at the appropriate places and opening it in VDub to see if that fixes it. Then you should be able to use the Recover Module to just start the encoding again.
