Trick to play anamorphic SVCD on standalone

We known very few standalone DVD players are able to play properly anamorphic SVCDs. We have uncovered a trick that works fine, at least in both a Daewoo and a Yamakawa player. The trick is simply to play first a DVD for a short time and then to eject it and play the anamorphic SVCD. Please check if the trick works on other DVD players not supporting anamorphic SVCDs and share your experience.

That's very interesting, thanks for the info. I'll make an attempt on my standalone and see what results I get. Unfortunately, the 2 brands you mentioned aren't all that common around here, so results will probably be mixed...
