View Full Version : Can I use Interlacing for hybrid clips?

I have a movie, which is in 24fps FILM but the credits are in NTSC/FILM mixed. I have used FORCE FILM in DVD2AVI and the results are pretty good. The credits scroll smoothly but some of the frames are interlaced. Using a deinterlacer gives really bad results, so I've decided to encode them as they are (interlaced). If I enable interlace within XviD, will it affect the non-interlaced parts of the video?

Yes.

Solution: Encode credits as a separate AVI (with interlacing enabled), then append that to the AVI of the actual movie.

Otherwise, you will use 1 bit per macroblock for every frame of the movie itself in pointless interlacing bits, wasting 11 MB for a 90-minute film.
