Hi all

im having a really weird problem.

using DVDSVCD 1.09 beta 3

ok the 3 dvd's im having this problem with is "A Beautiful Mind", "cats and dogs" and "Bicentennial man"

What happens is DVDSVCD doe's its thing perfectly as usual, then i burn the images and pop the cd into my stand alone player and as soon as it starts i get this like skipping with the sound and the counter on the dvd player display just sits at 1 while this skipping is happening then after about 2 to 3 seconds of skipping it plays perfectly but because of the skipping it is then just out of sync.

Then if i hit next to go to the next chapter its all back in sync and playing perfectly. That's whats happening with the beautiful mind rip, i redid this rip 3 times with different settings and burnt them on 2 different burners with different blanks as that's what I first thought was causing this prob "bad burn" but as far as i can see its defiantly not that.

now with cats and dogs i get the same skipping problem but it happens on the last chapter of the 2 cd. NOW THE STRANGE thing is if i skip to the last chapter with the next button i get this sound skipping problem but if i rewind it to a spot just before the last chapter position and play it, it plays perfectly without a glitch. Now i thought that maybe my dvd player was causing this problem so i tried it on 2 other dvd players one pioneer and one jvc and they both do the same thing so it cant be the player.

Now Bicentennial man has the same problem as above it skips right at the start at 1 sec and also skips at a chapter in the middle of cd 3.
both times the counter stops while it skips.

It's really got me stuck i mean ive been using this Great program since 1.03 and have done many rips and have never had this problem.

Also i forgot to mention that ive done heaps of other svcd's in between these three and haven't had a problem with them just these three.

Oh yeah also the other thing is they all play fine on my pc through power dvd or win dvd just not on my stand alone or on my other friends dvd players.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

i have madly searched the forum's with no luck

its driving me crazy :D

thanks all

I don't have the logs from these rips so i just did the first chapter of Bicentennial man to get a log and i checked, its still skipping at the start

i tried changing the movie offset to 0 and 2
also tried unchecking and checking the entryscvd
and also tried changing the PBC type to "PBC Use playlist" as it seems to be happening at chapter points.

but again all with no luck

SORRY for the long post but im trying to make sure i give you all the info you need.

thanks again

OK heres the log

Give these a shot if they don't help post your BeSweet log as well to see if there is an issue.

Try raising you audio bitrate to at least 160. Many players can have problems with too low a bitrate.

Try not downsampling the audio.

Go to the BeSweet site and grab the latest beta of BeSweet. Replace the version you have. I would probably move the current version to a different directory so I could get it back if there was an issue. Search out a post by DspGuru the website is in his signature.

what's up with the ripping speed of -3?

hi all again

Ok Markrb ive gone off and tried you suggestions with great success:D

now, testing on the first chapter of Bicentennial man i first tried changing the besweet with the latest beta on DSPguru's website and i left the bitrate at 128, this gave me the exact same problem.

So then i tried changing the audio bitrate to 192 and :D IT WORKED :D

just to make sure i tried it again with the 192 bitrate and original Besweet, Again IT WORKED no problem at all.

so then i tried the 3 movies now 4 "i found the Ghostbusters did the same thing" that gave me this problem and yep they all work fine now.

I wonder what is so different about these four DVD's that cause's this problem if i use an audio bitrate of 128. I mean ive probably done around 60 to 80 conversions with the audio bitrate at 128 and have never had this problem until these four dvds. I did notice that ghostbusters and bicentennial man are both Columbia Tri-Star and im not sure about the other 2 as ive now only got the vobs on my HD.

Ive always tried to give the video as high a bitrate as possible so i used 128 for the audio. but now i must say i liked the sound at 192 and it fixed this odd problem so i think ill keep it there. :D

THANK YOU HEAPS Markrb

Now hoozdapimp

well i cant explain that -3 i just did some tests before and i was averaging around 5000 thats what i normally get. The DVD disc it self is clean as with 1 or 2 light scratches, nothing that would cause it to have trouble reading and it was reading fine in my tests just before.

so im not sure why that happened

Thanks again Markrb

glad you fixed the problem...guess ill bump my audio up to 192 from 160 from now on so i dont have this problem too! :)

thanks

yeah i just tested 1 of the 4 problem dvd's at 160 and that worked fine like 192, its just 128 that seems to be causing the problem.

Well im now going to redo all four completely again so ill let you know if they all work fine at 160 like they do at 192. I suspect they will as the 1 ive just tested worked fine.
