hi. i know this is nothing ot do with movies but i didn't know where to go.

anyway, i ahve Nero 5.5.7.2 and when i make an audio cd and put it in a hi-fi, it takes about 5 seconds to change to the next track. the earlier nero i had didn't do this. is there a way i can tell it to not do it?

The latest release is 5.5.9.0, you might consider upgrading, you may be able to upgrade at no charge.
The silence between tracks is called "pause" and the default is 2 seconds. You may change this on a per-track basis.

i wouldn't recommend using nero for audio cds at all.
you might want to try feurio: http://www.feurio.de/

I use Nero for burning audio CDs all the time - in fact I've burnt nearly a thousand using this program, over the last year or so, and with no problems whatsoever. Ok, so it's not designed for true audio disc mastering, like Soundforge is (with the CD architect plugin, I mean), but it does an excellent job of creating basic, no nonsense, audio disks and I would actually recommend it very highly for this purpose.

Feurio is also an excellent choice, as is EAC, which I always use for ripping, but burns audio disks too. In summary, the problem described has nothing *specifically* to do with Nero, to the best of my knowledge - not unless there is some bug on the Nero build you are using, which I have never heard about. Certainly, 5.5xx has never given me any cause for concern with audio burning.

Incidentally, you can check the pause before each track plays, by double-clicking on each track after you've dropped the tracks into the Nero browser/burnlist. The first track on a disk must always have a minimum of 2seconds pause (which is the default pause when you drop the track into Nero anyway), but all other tracks can have any pause value you like - even zero. Don't forget that if you toggle back and forth into Nero EXPRESS, you will lose the specific pause values which you entered in the standard Nero GUI/Shell, which can be extremely frustrating - short answer is not to use Express at all when authoring Audio disks!

the pause i'm talking about is not supposed to be there. i selected all the pauses to be 0 sec. the 5 seconds i'm talking about is how long it takes SOME cd players to FInd the track. it reads the cd for about tha tlong before it finds the track i've chosen.

That sounds very strange - as I say, I've NEVER encountered such an issue with Nero. What media are you using? I won't deny that this confuses the hell out of me, and I'm wondering if you are using media that some CD player laser assemblies find difficult to read/seek? I find it difficult to believe that it's Nero's fault if some other players you have tried do not have the playback problem.

Just burn it Disk At Once - DAO instead of Track At Once - TAO...

That should take care of your problem...

Excellent point, Mrafrohead - I must admit I was assuming that this was already the case (esp. if using the Nero Audio CD wizard template). I think you may well have hit the nail on the head, so-to-speak. :)
