First, i dont know if this is the right section of the forum to put it in, if its not then please move to the correct section, and sorry for any inconvienence caused.

Now to my problem.. I recently brought showtime and wanted to back it up straight away. When i ripped the VOB files with smartripper everything went ok. Then i made a dvd2avi project and also extracted the ac3 audio. Now this is the problem..ill try my best to explain.

The movie starts off how its ment to..like all movies do. There is the typical introduction with the "Roadshow entertainment" logo and some sound along with this. But before it get to the start of the movie, there is a little trialor, once that finishes the movie commences.

Now, when i listen to my ac3 file to check if its the right one, i notice that it doesnt have the audio for the little trailor that is just before the start of the movie. It just skips this section and goes on straight to the movie. Im just wondering if i ripped the VOBS to my HD incorrectly. If not then how do i fix this problem. Do i cut out this trialor and just try to match up the sound (which i imagine would be pretty hard!!) or is there a much simpler way:confused:

Im getting pretty frusterated here becuase i've never had a movie that i ripped do this, maybe it could be me, but i dont know..

Anyways sorry for me ranting on like this but i want to get this rip right:)

to determine if it's a vob problem just try to rip the vobs again and maybe use a different ripper. vstrip for example!

if that doesn't work it's really a movie problem and then the easiest thing i guess will be to just delay the audi track in virtualdub until it fits...
is a little hard but it will work

Did you have SmartRipper in "Movie" mode? That should take Angle 1 of the longest program chain.

When ripping by program chain, you shouldn't get this sort of problem. That stated, there are some transfers that SmartRipper can't manage (according to Doom9's guides) and he recommends Vstrip for those.

Thanks for both of your replies!!

When i was ripping with smartripper i was using the file mode and not the movie mode. Ill try using vstrip and see what happens :)

Vstrip is very flexible, and therefore, very complicated. You may find using SmartRipper in Movie mode to be much easier, and, it is likely to solve your problem.
