I am going to buy a 100 pack of these soon because of the great reviews I have been reading about... I just have a few questions before I make the purchase though.

1 - Do any of you guys do data verification after you burned the dvd (I think Nero and StompMax have this feature)? And if so, does it verify successfully most of the time or better yet ALL of the time (another way to find out I think is if you can re-rip the dvd burned on the RITEKG03 back on to the hard drive)?

2 - Do these work well on Playstation 2's? If not, which version Playstation 2 do you have and what exactly are the problems you encountered?

3 - Those of you with the Pioneer a04/104 drive, how good are these RITEKG03 at 2x? Do they verify correctly at 2x also if they did with 1x. And again do they work well in the Playstation 2 if burned at 2x?

4 - Last question is actually about the Pioneer A04/104 drive. I updated my firmware to 1.32 which does NOT support 2x with the RITEKG03. Can I downgrade the firmware to 1.31 so that I can burn these RITEKG03 at 2x? I know the 1.32 firmware is suppose to fix some overheating issue, but it is to my understanding that this fix was only for 4x dvd-r and 2x dvd-rw media that is coming out soon. However, I don't see how this effects current 2x media at all.

By the way, the reason why I am asking and no just buying a small sample for myself and testing on my dvd players is because I want to see how well it works with all dvd players. I plan on burning dvds for my friends and stuff so I wanna know how good the compatibility is.

THANKS!!!

I have had extremely good results with Ritek G03 at 1x Speed.
I burn a coaster in perhaps only 1 out of 50 DVD burns.

However: i tried to burn at 2x speed with the V1.31 firmware. At first everything seemed fine. However when i started watching the movies i recorded at 2x speed, almost all of them had artifacts and stuttering playback. Out of 10 disks that i burned at 2x speed, about 8 had these problems. So i switched back to 1x speed burning and i have no problem at all any more.

I think Ritek GO3 is a very good and extremely compatible media for 1x burning (also reads on PS2) but is crap for 2x burning. This is probably the reason why Pioneer removed 2x support for these media in their v1.32 upgrade...

So if i were you: i wouldn't bother to downgrade: you'll burn coasters all over the place...

I'm using Ritek G03 at 1x Speed for both movies and PS2 games backups, and I've had excelent results, no coaster out of 30 burns.

I did not try the 1.31 firmware for my A04, cause I've read mostly negative stuff about burning at 2x with this media. Here in Brazil, even Ritek's are expensive, so I can't afford burning coasters to save half an our per disc (I don't do this for a living).

Hope my information help you...

My last spindle of 50 Meritline LAC's ran out so I did a search on 3 brands I'd had luck with in small quantities, Accu, Ritek, and Optodisc to guide my purchase of 100 somethings. Ritek is by far the more expensive of the 3. It also got the best press in this forum. The "stable burns at 2X on A04/104 with V1.31 firmware" tipped me in favor of reliability and possibly 2X burns with the ritek. After getting them I guess I'm with many others when I say the G03 is stone-dead reliable at 1X on the 104/A04 but the first 3 I tried at 2X failed data verification in Nero (same .nrd had been flawless on an RW). Burned that image again at 1X-perfect. At $1.50 each I decided 3 in a row was statistically relevant enough to decide the 2X stuff is at least mostly hype. Does the G04 actually burn at 2X on the 104 with 1.41 firmware?

I haven't had any problems with the G03's ...

I've burned data and movies with them at 2x on my Samsung SR-T03B burner. The movies play back perfectly on my Panasonic A160 DVD Player.

Anyway, from what I've heard, the Ritek G03's are the best media for most burners / DVD players.

Hope that helps,

1 - I never do data verification... takes too much time, after 30 mins of burning i want my disc! I burn at 2X always.

2- These work perfectly on PS2. I have approximately 25 burned for that purpose, no problems at all.

I dont own A04... I'm interested where you are going to get these discs at, I can only find G-04.

I just got a 100 "cake pack" of G03's from allmediaoutlet.com (best price in the states considering free shipping) and also still have some of the OPTO's and ACCU's left over from previous purchases.

After playing any burn completely through on my fussy Sony standalone, I always run K's Probe to check read error rates at max speed on my LITEON DVD-ROM. Ritek G03's are very consistent - not always better with the same burn on OPTO or ACCU. Sometimes OPTO is better, sometimes worse. The ACCU's were on two spindles, half of which showed a "SONY" lead-in and the other half "Lead Data." The ACCU's invariably show high error rates towards the edges (end) of the video. About three so far bombed-out in K's Probe and also skipped and stalled at about the same point in the movie on my standalone.

From the standpoint of consistency, I would rate Ritek G03's the most consistent of all the media I've tried, and that includes a 90-pack of Taiyo Yuden's from rima.com

Good media!

Out of 250 Ritek G03 and Datawrite (Ritek G04) not one coaster. G03 were 1x and Datawrite 2x. I allways rip back the dvd-r to hd using decrypter and always burn using an image from imgtools.

They play all to PS2 and xbox smoothly. Go for them bindfold.

Yes, the g03's work great on the ps2, best i found for a cheap price, they also work great on the xbox. Out of 200+ I've burnt 2 coasters on my dvr-a03, and they were both the discs at the bottom of the spindle...they may have been salvagable, but I never LOOKED at the bottoms before I put them in...

I always verify them and they come out perfect as well....can't tell you anything bout the 2x issue tho, they havent worked on my a03 at 2x yet.

Is anyone burning at 2X with G03's using Nero on a 104 at v1.31? After reading this I burned 1 more at 2X and it failed data verification (I do verify because I don't always have time to watch it before I delete the image). I watched it. An entire chapter played in 9-10 frames. What is K's Probe? Is it reliable at finding skips etc.? Is it faster than Nero?

I burned about 200 G03's at 2x on my Cendyne A04/104. All worked well. I always verify after burning on a different drive.

My most recent spindle of 100 Riteks had stuttering problems and I had to drop to 1x. Now with Riteks increasing in price, and my lack of confidence in their consistency, I've been trying optodisk. These aren't perfect either, but a lot cheaper. Also 1x speed.
