I have just purchaced the DVD Monster Inc for our children
I have tried to rip using smart ripper (3 different versions)
and tried to encode using DVDX 1.8 & 2.0
each time I have the same problem
the rip does not rip the 1st twenty minutes of the movie instead it creates an empty file I have checked all settings over and over
experimented with settings still the same
I have taken it to a friend who has different programs still the same
DVDs are too exspensive so you have to make a backup copy 50c is cheaper than $30 pluss
Any ideas please

i am having problem with monster inc as well
i think i ripped it with DVDDecrypter and everythihng was sweet until i encoded it and ended up with 3 file when i asked for 2 but that's not the problem.
the problem is that damn 20 minutes problem, what it does it plays up to 20 minutes and then the movie restarts but the sound keeps going like nothing happen and this happen twice so that i end up with a movie that restart 3 times and soon after the movie sound ends becuase it thinks that that's it
anybody had same problem and found a workaround?
bye

I just used DVD Decrypter 3.1.2.0 in IFO mode. I believe there is a widescreen and fullscreen angle, so I picked the widescreen. I probably enabled stream processing and didn't rip the spanish/french or whatever foriegn language audio tracks or subtitles.
Then I just encoded my usual way dvd2avi->avisynth->CCE.

Try DVD2SVCD - No problems here at all but remember that there's 2 angles, Widescreen and fullscreen.

Just a suggestion, but clicking vob size-maximum file size under settings in Smart-Ripper worked on Disney Films before for me.
