how do you mean "generated" ? What was the source, resolution, framerate, etc..?? CCE won't take every .avi out there.

MGIVideoWav5 allows me to generated my movie with high quality by using the provided DV AVI format : 720x480 NTSC,Audio 32khz, 16bit stereo

But CCE cannot import this file ???!! Might be coming from the audio track....

So actually, my only way to process is to convert to MPg2 fomat-->dvd2avi-->CCE-->Maestro.....but the quality is not so great
:(

OK. I found the solution....

No need CCE or TMPEG anymore ....or any encoder tool....to get the perfect quality of your DV AVI.

Use "ULEAD DVDWorkshop" to do the authoring....it is really a powerful tool.

It can take your DV Avi high quality and generate the Disc image.
You just need to indicate the type of quality....DVD 60mn, DVD 90mn, DVD 120mn....

Also, it is really straigthforward to use. Easy to build your DVD menus.....

Of course, it is not free but

Can you tell which MPEG-2 encoder "ULEAD DVDWorkshop" uses?

If you still want to use CCE, then you need to install DV Codec. There's one DV Codec I know, which is MainConcept (http://www.mainconcept.com/products.shtml).

And if you read the sticky threads, you'll find even more...

CCE 2.5 doesn't support DV from what I hear, just use AVISynth. Please do not use DVD Workshop to do the encoding. Your video will thank you.

I'm using CCE 2.64 and, yes, as Faceman101 said, it doesn't support DV format because it doesn't have any DV Codec within its own package. However, once I installed DV Codec, it worked fine and treated DV AVI as a normal AVI file ;)

E x a c t l y, you need a VfW DV codec installed, like Mainconcept, Canopus, Panasonic, Adaptec, ...

@hattia
Thanks to bb. Now, we know that where we can find other DV Codecs. MainConcept is still a demo version. I'm not sure whether it'll put any logo onto an output movie or not.

You don't need to use any extra avs script to run this software. It's just a codec as same as an mp3 codec, which you need to listen to the music. It's a module to handle a specific file format, in your case, AVI file that encoded with DV format.

The free Mainconcept DV codec will only put a logo watermark on if you are encoding to DV. If you are using it to decode from DV, say converting from DV-AVI to MPEG1 or 2 in CCE, then there will be no logo.

OK CCE 2.62+DV codec can now read my DV AVi....but I have a trial version of CCE2.62 which adds a logo ...so I have to use CCE2.5 with AVSYNTH...damn it !!

My understanding is that I must use DVD2AVI to create a .d2v file ....but  actually DVD2AVI (version 1.76) cannot read the DV AVI file..

Any ideas ?

thanks

Why so angry?

You don't need a .d2v to use Avisynth, just use AVISource() in your script with the .avi file, instead of Mpeg2Source() with the .d2v file.

You all convinced me !

DVDWorkshop is a pretty cool software for creating DVD (more intuitive than DVD Maestro) but ..its MPEG encoder is not really efficient to compare with CCE.

So, the nice solution is to re-encode your DV-AVI with CCE ([CCE2.5 + AviSynth] or CCE2.6x)

Next, remux (.mpv + .ac3)) with TMPGenc and use those mpg files into DVDWorkshop.

Thanks all !

Folks,

One note and one question:

- CCE claims in its manual, that it would not accept type-1 DV .AVI files for encoding

- I am using a miniDV camera, capturing thru firewire in DV format, and encode footage with CCE or TMPGEnc.
It has been OK for some time, but a few days ago I had to completely reinstall my W2k. After I have resintalled all the HW-s and SW-s I have been using earlier, CCE (2.50) refused to encode my DV .AVI-s it normally have done before, saying it could not find a codec for "dvsd".

I cannot recall if I had particularly installed a codec in the previous environment, all I was using is ULead VS5 (included with my ATI TW-Wonder PCI), Ulead MediaStudio Pro 6.0 (from the box of my Pyro NB 1394 DV card) and Adobe Premiere 6.0 (came with my Compaq 1394 PCI DV capture card), also, WinDVD 3.0 (Compaq EVO W4000)

The thing is that all SW-s mentioned above can play my DV .AVI-s, (even WMP does), also, TMPGEnc encodes fine, only CCE seem to be out of order - both SP and the plugin as well.

So, is it a codec question, or something else I am missing?

Thanks for any hints
Regards
