If your in the US and have an Ames dept. store near you I would check out their DVD section soon. The whole chain is bankrupt and is liquidating, and starting this week my local Ames put DVD's on 40% off. Got "Das Boot" and "Total Recall" for $9, and the new "Terminator":SE was $13. The selection was getting slim, but there was still some good deals.

Its not.

Using http://www.dvdpricesearch.com and looking at a bunch of preorders confirms it.

Lilo and Stitch
DVDSoon: $16.15 shipped
Amazon: $22.47 shipped

SWEp2 AotC
DVDSoon: $18.74 shipped
Amazon: $20.97 shipped

Lord of the Rings: Extended Edition
DVDSoon: $23.30 shipped
Amazon: $25.99 shipped

Monsters, Inc.
Deep Discount DVD: $16.75 shipped
DVDSoon: $18.09 shipped
Amazon: $20.97 shipped

Amazon is rarely the lowest priced, unless you use STL (which is easily facilitated through http://www.dvdtalk.com). http://www.dvdpricesearch.com is an awesome tool for price comparing :) Generally preorders from DVDSoon are the cheapest.

However, if you can wait until release day, more times than not, B&M (Brick & Mortar) stores have it just as cheap. (For example: K-Mart had Monsters, Inc. for $14.99, Walmart, CC, BB, and everyone else price matched it and sometimes went an extra dollar or two lower)

$18.74 included the shipping cost of $3.20 (2 weeks ago?)

DVDSoon is selling the dvd itself for $17.32 now (bringing total to $20.52)

As I'm sure you know, prices change radically closer to release date, and DVDSoon, just as other online vendors, raises their price accordingly.

Making our new pricelist (including shipping):
Playcentric.com $ 18.46
DeepDiscountDVD $ 18.89
buy.com $ 18.99
Best Buy $ 19.99
DVDSoon.com $ 20.52
DVD Empire $ 20.89
Amazon $ 20.97
North American DVD $ 21.84

However, another good example of a preorder to get in on would be Back to the Future Trilogy

Pricelist (including shipping):
DVDSoon.com $ 31.44
North American DVD $ 35.84
DVD Empire $ 39.89
DeepDiscountDVD $ 40.80
EntertainMe.com $ 40.97
BestPrices.com $ 42.15
buy.com $ 42.69
Amazon $ 42.74

Most of these prices, again, will change as release date gets closer.

Pardon? You're writing dual layer discs with all the extras, factory printed Amaray(tm) cases, and offering promotional coupons on additional titles? I'll head right over!

I've got the answers!!!!!!!! Wal-Mart and Sams!!!!!!! believe it or not your pretty much not going to beat them. I bought several nice movies that aren't brand new for $9.00 a piece. The movies are new in unopened box they aren't new releases that's all. I got Days of Thunder, Robin Hood, Ronin, and Crimson Tide for $9.00 a piece!!!

Any chance that its R2 that they sell?

It sounds as if you are limited to R2 for whatever reason ... try splashdvd.com. You could also try some Japanese (R2) e-tailers (like cdjapan, amazon.co.jp) but I somehow doubt you will find them cheap :D.
And how about making that player of yours region-independent? You won't regret it.

Yeah good idea , i have been thinking about it , its just a heard about multi angle dvds can mess up on R0 player? because it doesnt know what angle to use ...any truth there?

int 21h

AFAIK this has no root in reality.

However, R0 players can be affected by RCE discs. Much better plan to have some sort of modifiable mod to change to any region on the fly since R0 doesn't always work.

Ah ah , maybe RCE could of been what i heard ;) might have to go hunting for codes.
