Hi folks, it's me again!
Well, things are fine as regards DVDMaestro, CCE and all that, but there's one slight problem - the movie I'm using ("Amelie") is French, and 16:9. The subtitles now show up in the picture! On the original, they're in the bottom widesreen "bar". Any ideas? Also, I've not had the chance to try the copy I've already made in a stand alone player, but the subtitles sure look "flaky", not a whole lot of definition. Any more ideas? I did follow the guide... Thanks!

Hy, did you changed the format from 4/3 to 16:9? At subrip did you selected the “Cropping” tab. Placed a checkmark on “Allow BMP cropping”and selected 720 x 576 for minimum picture width and height. Because that´s the Pal format.:)

Thanks! Oh, one other thing, I don't suppose you know what the best way to rip the audio is? I'm just using the default settings in DVD2AVI, so when I import the large WAV file in DVDMaestro it says PCM. Would another format be smaller?

Okay - used DVD2AVI to just demux the tracks. They're so much smaller! I'm in work at the moment, so can you tell me if DVDMaestro will take these .AC3 files as input? Also, the DVD in question (Amelie, R2) has french, english and director's commentary soundtracks, but I can only rip two tracks! Any ideas? Thanks for your help,
PnaG. :o

i dont know why you can only rip 2 of the sound tracks check dvd2avi to make sure that you are dumuxing all tracks, failing that you could use the stream processing in smartripper to get it.

DVD Maestro will accept .ac3 files no problem at all.

Hello, you can use ifoedit to see the ifo file and identify what sound track is on it. But you should do this step with no problem in Dvd2avi. Select the track you want and strip it. By the way, in the original VOBS can you hear the three audio tracks? I´m asking this because a did a movie that the track DTS in the ifo file ( The One Portuguese ), but it couldn´t be selected in the original movie.;)

Hello,

I just had a similar problem with Amelie. I have a NTSC dvd. I
used twilight's DVD9-DVD5 method using Subrip. It automatically
sets the size constraints to 720X480. When I imput the subtitles
into Maestro, the words appear in the movie instead of bellow like
in the original.

Also, even though I compile the DVD and the subtitles work using the
ifoedit player, the subtitles do not show up on my final burned
version.

I would apreciate any advise.

Thanks in advance.

is it a PAL dvd ? if so it should be 720x576.

If it was the NTSC size you were putting in the subtitles would appear further up.
