autochck not found in xp

when i boot up after trying partition magic 7.0 with windows xp i get the error autochck not found and one other thing not found then it goes blue screen. i tried using safemode, last sucessful boot and some other options that havent worked. does anyone know what i can do besides reformating because i have alot of inportant info i need to keep

You can try booting the xp install disc and selecting the repair tools. These are kind of confusing so use the help function. There are a couple of the tools that will fix or rebuild the boot sector. Shouldn't affect your data at all.
