I have done about 50 movies so far and have had no such problem. It could be that I have a different model ps2 than you though, or it could be a media problem also.
Sorry I know I put this in a new thread but meant for it to be a reply to patch2010
"Playing DVD backups on PS2
Hi all

When i play a backup on my PS2 it slowly looses audio sync. If i move to the previous chapter or pause it goes back to correct sync.

Has anyone had this problem? I am not sure if the PS2 just doens't handle it too well as i haven't noticed this issue with original DVD's or if it is a media issue.

I have tested it with a direct image of a film with the same sync issues.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated"

PS2 have no trouble with DVD movies, except it's quite sensible to media quality.

Anyway, it won't produce audio/video desynchronization.

For me, it's more aproblem with authoring on a NTSC title.
By "direct copy", you mean DVD5 ripped an burn as it is ?
You should perhaps start a thread in the authoring forum with description of the method you used to copy and repeat error description you gives here.

One option perhpas. PS2 have trouble to handle VBR audio, but I don't think. You can try to extract AC3 ,check if VBR, then reencode to CBR and reauthor to check if it solves the problem. Do a search to find out how to convert vbr to cbr.
