I know that I have writen something similar to this already, but the title of my original post could be decieving.
What applications write DVD-Videos.
I have tried Nero, RecordNOW, InstantCD+DVD and PrimoDVD and all have different problems.
What else is there.
I have already been told about 'gear', but is there anything else?
What about tools to create an 'image' which can be burned using another package?
All info appreciated.

Gear Pro DVD is a good tool for files directly.
to create image, use imgtool directly, or with the dll in the ifoedit dir, you can do it from Ifoedit.
Of course Authoring tools can also do an image (Scenarist, Maestro at least)
and to burn image files, do not forget the wonderful tool "DVDdecrypter"

What kind of problem did you find with Nero ?
I have been using 5.5.8 for ever, and more recently 5.5.9 and never had any problems.

I know with any version of Nero I use, I've had problems with the video allocation. It never works for me.

Nero works fine.. .But... Its disks dont' play on a Toshiba 510 and the new Pioneer 454 standalone players.
RecordNOW disks do work on these 2 players, but after I have used IFOEDIT, I am finding that RecordNOW makes disks which won't play on ANY player. Where as the same files burned using Nero work fine (but don't play on the afore mentioned players!)
Nero burned EVERYTHING and they all play fine.. But they are incompatable with some Standalone player..
RecordNOW makes FULLY complient disks.. But it won't burn some disks.. I can't win!
