hi, maybe some of you can help me.
i've burned some dvd+rw's perfectly last week with nero 5.5.8.2 on philips dvd+rw 228k with the new firmware 1.36 (rpc-1 = region free), but i can't burn the philips dvd+r that came with the rewriter....
Nero tells me the selection (3500MB) won't fit on the medium and suggests to insert a dvd+r that's already in the drive hot damn! The same happens in win2k and winME.
Is the 228k not ready for dvd+r or what?

thanks for any help ! (even name calling)

Did it work before you flashed the firmware?

no i didn't. I admit that wasn't smart, so now i'm flashing the old firmware (1.29 rpc-2) back and see if it burns dvd+r and later flash the drive with firmware 1.29 rpc-1 to see if it wants 2 b region-free AND burn dvd+r. This continuous firmwareflashing business is not my favorite way of resolving the problem, but hey, at least you people learn something from my mistakes. Right, lads?

never thought an update of nero would work

1. tried some more dvd+r. didn't work
2. original firmware 1.29 didn't work with nero 5.5.8.2
3. installed nero 5.5.9.9 -> works! with firmware 1.36 (rpc2 region locked AND rpc1 region free)
4. toshiba sd-m1212 dvd-drive reads the discs, not the dvd+rw, but hey
5. no money wasted (just time)

good to hear it's all going and that it wasn't a faul with the firmware.
