Hi,

in the dvd9 to dvd5 guide there is this instruction :<<The next window will pop up when the first subtitle is detected. You will want to select the “Cropping” tab. Place a checkmark on “Allow BMP cropping”. Select 720 x 480 for minimum picture width and height, respectively>>

When you make the subrip with 720X480 and put the subtitles in dvd maestro in then in the final movie you will get some nusty white lines
under the subtitles because there is some problem with the vertical posistion of the subpicture.

The one solution is to increase the vertical position of the subpictures by 1 in the *.son file.

The other solution i have tried is to subrip the subtitles with 720X576. The result is perfetct.

Thanks and bye.

the guide was for NTSC films. It is common logic to switch to PAL specs when doing PAL films. n est pa? :)

I tried this method with 'Amelie'. When i load the ifo file into
subrip.... it automatically sets the resolution to 720X480... I can't
get it to 720X576.

Any help would be appreciated.

its a bug that appears in subrip 1.06. If u have noticed, some dvd report wrong the tv system in the 1st ttn in the ifo. I hv spotted it many times in ifos with ifoedit. I guess subrip sees this 1st report on NTSC and locks on it.

What we PALers need is an option to manually select the tv system we need.

PS. sorry for the previous post. On a second reading sounds terrible.
