I posted a problem I noticed with using Vobedit. Turns out it was something I was doing wrong. It really didn't bother my playing until I hit fast-forward. Turns out I missed a step in the creation process.
Now, for about a dozen DVD's, I have to go back, upload them to my HD and re-encode them following the proper steps. So, it'll cost me about $16 to redo them. No biggie. I'd rather do that, than live with "NO, don't touch that fast forward!!" :)
So, if instead I had done this with high-price media, I'd be out $60, (based on $5 per disc) which would have probably caused me not to redo them.

well, for me, every DVD playback problem i've had, has been the result of authoring issues, and not the media.
i dunno what to think.
oh well, at least i'm happy with my ritek's.
i'll admit, i had one primedisc double sided that gets some pixellation at two spots in the 3 hour movie..but its not enough to make me throw it away.
i'm going to watch that movie again in a week or two, so i'll report back if it has gotten worse or not.

Are those Ritek G3's? Just wondering where I should buy them from, thinking of buying a sample set. Always looking for a backup source for good discs.

@padre
I have some Ritek G3's and I got them from Supermediastore.com. I got 25 for $40 shipped. They seem ok but my Sony doesn't like them at all. Since then, I got a 15 pack of Verbatim 2x dvd-r's for $50. I'm excited about using them. Do you think I paid too much for them?

That's the cheapest I've seen for Verbatim 2x.
What model Sony player? I've got a friend who uses a Sony and I won't get Ritek's if they don't play on it. The PrimeDiscs play on it, and most of them are Ritek G3's.

It's an older Sony, its the DVP-S300 and its about 4 yrs old. I'm going to try the Verbatim 2x dvd-r's on it and see what happens. Although I may burn the first dvd-r at 1x to see if the Sony likes it, then move on to 2x.

That's odd... I've got an old Sony DVP-S300, and I'm also using a Ritek 25-pack I got from Supermediastore.com. As a matter of fact, it will read ANY crap media I throw at it. I remember I initially got it because in 1998 it was the only thing I could find that would play CD-R VCD's. If I burn those Ritek's at 2X, they won't read in my drives (Pioneer DVD-ROM or DVR-104), and they'll skip towards the end in my PS2, but the DVP-S300 will play them fine.

Well, my Sony does not like the Ritek dvd-r's at all. I just burned a Verbatim 2x dvd-r and the Sony loved it, played the later chapters great with no skipping/pixelation. I only burned at 1x to verify that the Sony would like it, I will try 2x later.
brett, where did you buy your ritek's at? I got mine at Supermediastore.com.
