Does anyone have any tips for producing PS2 compatible dvds? i follow the ifoedit&CCE guide. i re-author with Scenarist and then i use ifo-update to merge the re-authored vobs with the rest of the original ones. VTS sectors are corrected through ifo-update. then i remove any P-UPs and make the dvd Region Free using IfoEdit. The dvds i create are compatible with other settop players but not with PS2
I know PS2 is picky about the standards of the DVD as it is about the quality of the DVD-R media, so i need some tips on how to follow the standards required by PS2.

What is happening? Are you getting a "Disc Read Error" or a "Insert a Playstation2 Disc" error? I've had problems burning Verbatim 2x discs at 1x (thinking they would work better). Turns out, they need to be burned at 2x. Funny thing is the ps2 is the only dvd player that has a problem when that happens. I get the "Insert a Playstation2 Disc" error whenever I try burning with Nero so I stopped using it.

Make sure you are burning your disks in "UDF-ISO" format, and on the subject of PS2 playability, I have found that the PS2 is *outrageously* picky about the media - I'm not exaggerating. I often wonder whether Sony deliberately made the laser assembly favour commercial disks over DVD-Rs, for reasons which aren't rocket science. I have had success on the PS2 with Choice 2x DVD-Rs, and with Memorex (but these aren't so great). Based on my own experience, I would recommend that you make sure, if you can, that you use Generation 3 disks.

I use Apple brand DVD-R media and find the PS2 has no problems with these whatsoever.
