cutting problem with Tmpge

I am trying to cut a mpeg2 file with TMPGE

after choosing the file, before setting everything up i receive the following information: "COULD NOT OPEN THIS FILE WITH DIRECT SHOW!"

maybe someone can helpme out here

You could try increasing the DirectShow priority.
Option>Enviromental Settings>VFAPI Plugin>DirectShow Multimedia File Reader. Right click on it, and see the options.
See if that works

Unless I'm mistaken, this isn't a DVD2SVCD issue, and should be moved to the TMPGEnc forum.

Stopped reading MPEG-file with "DirectShow Multimedia File Reader", one of the VFAPI Plug-in which is included in the program.
New dedicated VFAPI Plug-in to read MPEG-1 files included. This operates decoder made by MS
New dedicated VFAPI Plug-in to read MPEG-2 files included. This operates decoder through DirectShow if one of the following MPEG-2 decoder is installed.


...Sounds like something that could be of help. So the question: "Did you install the friggin vfapi Plug-in ?" ... is common, yet very valid :)

i finally found out what the problem was....

somehow DVD2AVI.EXE was not installed....so i did it and everythig was fine
