Hi All,
I've been getting the above error with DivX 5.02 Pro on only one (production) of three machines I have the Gnot package from doom9 installed on. I've been reading through the post regarding this topic, and there seems to be no real 'one size fits all' solution, so I thought I'd put in my 2 cents.
Machine 1 (Gaming)
Win98SE
Athlon XP 2100+
Iwill KA266 Ali Magik 1 Chipset
256MB PC-2700
Leadtek Geforce 2 Pro 64MB
Onboard CMI8738 sound
Machine 2 (Home Theater PC)
Win98SE
Duron 1200
Iwill KK266 VIA KT133A Chipset
256MB PC-133
Gigiabyte Geforce 2 MX 32MB
Leadtek CMI8738 Digital Soundcard
Machine 3 (Production)
Win98 (from last night, before it had Win98SE)
Athlon 1200
Gigabyte GA-7VRXP VIA KT333 Chipset
384MB PC-2100
Gigabyte TNT2 M64 32MB
Miro DC-10
Onboard Creative PCI128
They all have Direct X 8.1 installed, and Gnot was installed on them from the same downloaded Gnot Package file from Doom9 (DivX 5.02 Pro, Gnot .21, Gnot .26 update). The only difference other than listed was when I installed Win98 on the production machine, I had to download an updated version of the Oleaut32.dll file as Gnot wouldn't run otherwise. I have tried eliminating all traces of the Gnot package (including regedit) and tried reinstalling again, all which had no effect.
In my case, both my gaming machine, and my home theater machine are happily able to exchange d2v files without a problem. However when those same d2v files are opened on my production machine, I get the same error as stated in the thread topic, this happens with both Win98 and Win98SE. I also get the error when I try to open d2v files created on my Production machine.
As you can see from my list, the hardware contained in my gaming and HTPC are fairly similar. The hardware in my production machine is quite different, notably;
Gigabyte TNT2 M64 32MB
Miro DC-10
I don't mean to draw conclusions from this, it's just an observation. Hopefully one of you Gnot savvy people might see something I don't. I think I will try swapping parts round, just to see. I will post my results.
