I just did The Fog and wanted to keep the menus on this cause there cool, and just the main movie. I ripped just the files I needed in Smartripper, did not rip the vobs that contain the extras. After I ripped I ran get vts sectors in Ifoedit and that was it, the whole DVD is perfect. Anyone else use this method? Its a lot faster that the Ifoedit guide here and that method only works some of the time for me

Sometimes we get so involved with tricky issues that we forget how it all began.

I take it the main movie vobs were in the VTS_01 set and that they were under 4.37 GB. If so, then yeah, that method works great. But if the main movie vobs are not located in the VTS_01 set and/or they are larger than 4.37 GB, then you have to strip or encode them.

Hey hoops10,,
I followed same method and my final dvd worked also. But, now I have ran into dvds that either have the main movie not in VTS_01 or needs to be reencoded. Here is where my questions are. What do I need to do to create a working dvd with just the main movie and just the main menu when the main movie is not VTS_01 or the movie needs to be reencoded. I tried just rencoding the video and remuxing with Ifoedit and then just delete the extras out of my directory but no play on set top. Any help would be great. Thanks

If the main movie is not in vts_01 set, then just copy over the original vts_01 set from the dvd (they usually are not too big in size). As for re-encoding, I follow the CCE/IFOEdit guide from Doom9's site, it uses Robshot's 2-pass method and yields great results even when used at below 3000 bitrates.
