Hi,

This is a repost. Has anyone got any ideas at all on this one?

Strange one for you. I am trying to rip a DVD with 6 episodes of a comedy series. I select the first episode, extract the VOBs etc. However, when I use TMPG to create the mpeg, I adjust the setting so the estimated file size is 240mb. This would enable me to fit 3 episodes on a 800 min CD. But the actual size turns out to be over 290mb. What could account for such a difference?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Pete

This is a known bug (around here at least! I hope that the developers know about it too!) with version 2.57 of the software. If you're able to track down a copy of 2.56, you shouldn't see this. 2.58 was released today, so we'll see if the bug was fixed (it's not listed in the changelog, though).

One "workaround" is to hit the Expert button in the wizard and then lower the Max bitrate to the Average bitrate, but doing this also reduces quality a bit.
