I've got BIG problems with the DVD play utility in ifoedit. It simply won't work. I'm loading up the video_ts file of the movie in Ifoedit, then press DVD play, then i'm getting this warning message: The video decoder doesn't produce closed caption data, do you still want to continue, YES or No. Then i'll press Yes and the copyright screen of the movie pops up in the player, but then it freezes up, and i'm getting an error message, and have to close down IfoEdit. Pleaaase help me, i'm getting crazy with this problem.
PS: I've got PowerDvd and WinDVD installed on my WinXp System.

I have the same problem. I gave up trying to find out what was causing it to go like this. If you do a clean install of xp it seems to work ok for a few days or so then packs up,I think it is something else upsetting it that you install maybe even Power dvd.

Hello, if you did the corrects steps and don´t forgot anything, maybe the problem is with Ifoedit, as it seems that it doesn´t like Windows XP very much. See it on Derrow´s home page.

I quite dissagree,
been using ifoedit with XP pro and powerdvd 4 for more or less 4 months all together. Never had a problem. Of course I am keeping the system clean of software I dont really need. Using system restore alot and backing up daily system folder through XP.
Perhaps installing/unistalling things is upsetting the system nad not only ifoedit/.

I posted with exactly the same problem few days ago. It started for me when I bought VOB Instant CD/DVD 6.5 and on uninstalling the trial version 6.4 foolishly said yes to removing some ASPI.dll's. Someone else on afterdawn forum posted claiming same problem when he did this.
Ifoedit help on DVD player says it will not work on SCSI only drives and altho Mine is Pioneer 104 I wonder if new ASPI (which I know bugger all about) make it look to Ioedit as tho' I only have SCSI drive because I think ASPI's work by emulating SCSI interface and masquerading an IDE drive as a SCSI.
Don't know for sure but I think it has something to do with above and I'm p**d off with it not working and havn't sussed how to get it fixed.
Any suggestions more than welcome

U have to install an aspi manager. ver 4.72 from adaptec should solve all your problems.

got the manager and loaded ,
unfortunatly this did not solve "The video decoder Doesn't produce closed caption data , continue yes , no"
Yes puts halve the screen on a blinks in several colors , but so far does not crash , but i cant get back so closing the program window and stating again is the only way
Perhaps in this case it the video decoder , any sugestions on what the best video decoder may be to solve this issue.
Any further sugestions ????

This may be interesting:
Windows 2000 also incorporates a DVD playback program which runs automatically when inserting a DVD (I chose to leave this autostart turned on since it authenticates the DVD for Smartripper).
And guess what - since installation of WinDVD 4 Platinum, this Win2k DVD program complains every time about "video decoder can't display closed caption data".
So I suppose the problem lies within the playback filters (ivideo.ax or something like that) and has nothing to do with IFOEdit. On my XP system, IFOEdit works fine, but there, I only have an older copy of WinDVD installed. Maybe the filters have changed...

I've got something like this...
When I press dvd play, I get the intro and the menu..., but as soon as the movie starts, IfoEdit crashes... It happens with every particular dvd I've tried. I'm runnin on w98 with PowerDVD 4.0...
Anyone had this prob before, and solved it???
