I don't get this. I had ripped a few DVDs a while ago using build 2 of 1.0.9. Now, every DVD I put in, as soon as I try to read the IFO, I get a hang on the program. I get the little "analyzing video" pop-up, then it will eventually come back and tell me it "failed to rip the DVD" (the proper IFO information, BTW is displayed in the frozen DVD2SVCD window...). While the hang is going on, the hard drive and DVD lights are blinking like crazy. The only change I made to the program (version 1.0.9 build 2) at the time it stopped working was I fiddled with the bitrate claculator. I have since removed build 2, installed build 3 and used force ASPI several times to get this thing to work.

Any ideas?

Uninstall D2S and any ASPI layers you have installed and reinstall the latest version of D2S and of forceASPI. This will most likely fix the problem, if it doesn't, then the problem does not lie in your ASPI layer.

If Aspi layer 1.7 is the latest, no luck there. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled both.

Any other ideas?

so it is failing on the authentication part right?
read the faq it should have the solution in there..something about installing winDVD or powerDVD to authenticate the DVD.

Are you running WinXP, W2K or W9x ?

WinXP: Use the XP ASPI drivers on my homepage:
All other: Use ForceASPI

To quothe the great philosopher king Homer:

"Doh!"

I KNEW I had forgotten something. Authenticating seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks!
