I have been trying to figure out how to improve my encodes. Some are great, but most leave something to be desired. Namely a crisp, stable picture. I tried to change Q factor to see if it helps, but it will only change on a 1-pass vbr, which would seem to be bad quality.
Someone told me to do an ecode with different bitrates and select the lowest bitrate that would keep the Q factor close to 10 for a good non-pixelized picture, with the program bitrate viewer. I was wondering could I just encode a portion of a vob file of the movie so it doesnt take so long, do the 1-pass, then get my averages from that, then set up for a 4-5 pass vbr?
But then, how will i be able to change the Q factor when I do 4-5 pass vbr? Or does it automatically adjust with the bitrate goes up or down?
Thanks
