How come when I rip off the Matrix it is in VTS_2 instead of VTS_1 files and my DVD2AVI locks up? What can I do?

If you use Smartripper to rip Movie only, you can rename the saved VOB files.

ALL DVDs MUST have a VTS_01 set.

Save as vts_01

It's as simple as that.

Thanks Homer, The disc itself was dodgy, it had a discoluoration on it. I changed it and it worked ok.I changed the file names too. Can you tell me what to do with Ac3 files? Do I have to convert to wave to use on TMPG?

ozziebill,

Please to read you have made some progress.

As far as Tmpeg and .AC3 files are concerned, please try doing a "search" on ac3 use the Tempeg forum only.

I had a quick look there, and there are quite a few (too many to list here) posts on this subject.

The good news seems to be that Tmpeg does support ac3 files, but as usual, there are a few compatability / version issues.

Failing that, I believe it is possible to convert an .ac3 file to .wav.

I had this problem when I used SmartRipper. Upon switching to DVD Decrypter -- no more problem. I think DVD Decrypter is just smarter about picking the correct file name, but anything that saves me a few steps is worth it IMO.
