Use Virtual dub. You can either add a text subtitle with the subtitle filter, or add a translucent logo like the Foxkids or CartoonNetwork logo over the video too with the logo filter. It requires you to reencode the vid. though.

usually encode dvd compliant m2v or mpeg2 filesin my book that's called transcoding and involves the decompression and recompression of the video. as soon as you decompress it's no problem to put a logo filter after the decompression and before the decompression and that's exactly what dvd_master suggested. It is not possible to add something to a compressed video stream without decompressing and recompressing.

On a personal logos are universally hated throughout the community.

just a tought:

if your target is dvd, maybe you can put your logo on it, same way as subtitles are placed, you would however be forced to restrict your logo to 4 colours...

I've seen the kind of crap people download on the net... 200MB DivX files with logos all over the place. You want to take a high-quality DVD and turn it into that? Do you WANT to be obnoxious? It's just a copy of a DVD, and that's all. Most people assume that if you've got a DVD burner then you can copy any DVD, so you're not going to impress anybody... or perhaps you'd like to know how to superimpose some scrolling text over the movie which explains how difficult it was to convert a DVD-9 to a DVD-R?

I digress. My point is that it's obnoxious, and you won't get recognition from your warez buddies for doing it anyway (apparently that's what you're looking for, right?). So put your logo on the menu. Put your logo on the label. Put your logo on the jacket. Hell, come up with a 10-sec intro video saying how cool you are and attach it to the beginning of the movie. But don't ruin a DVD with your damn name in the corner.

I agree with Brett. If you still want to put a logo on your clip (or parts of your clip) you can do that in AviSynth v2.xx (assuming you are using that) using layer and mask.

A French card, the Vitec DCM or DCM+, can encode analog to Mpeg2 with a logo or a counter added on the picture BEFORE compression.

Brett, I have'nt had such a good laugh in ages. When I read your post I laughed out loud. Pity I was in my office though. I agree 100%, with your thoughts and think that putting logos etc in a film should be outlawed, and the perpetrators of such a vile crime, flogged with a wet fish:devil:
Happy Ripping

I usualy don't download divx, but when I do and I find logo on the movie I just spent 2 days on downloading, I sure would like to "stretch" my hands around the neck of a person that put it there.

There is nothing wrong with logo's. After all it's the creaters rip. If he wants black screens all over than that's fine by me. Just don't watch it lol. However I would like to have a logo in my movies. Not one that stays. Kinda like a divx 5.0.3 logo that comes on for a couple seconds then leaves. Lets people know who made it and how good the quality is.

so the 'viewer' knows which versions to look for when they are 'downloading' other movies?

thats bordering on infringement of copyright (almost Rule 6)

BAH. Me and my buddies watch them all the time. There's nothing illegal there. It's fun to see your name on something.

well, this thread will turn into logo bashing soon, so i may as well.

there are a couple of ideas here, and it seems toiletduck added to this thread a bit differently to what the first poster was intending (corner logo v intro/outro logo).

now excuse me while i put my creative aspect into gear to create another animated intro for my work...
