Hi there.

I'm not an expert but have built a couple of systems. I would suggest puting your hd as promary master, and sticking both 'cd drives' on the same cable. i would suggest the dvd goes as secondary master and the cd writer as secondary slave, only because i had difficulty getting a pioneer a04 dvd drive to work as a slave (it would load the cd-only driver, so dvd wouldn't play!)

A general rule - the devises that you exchange data with most often should be on different ide channels, so with this set up hd <-> cd and hd <-> dvd will be quick, but cd <-> dvd will be slow, but how often in reality does anyone do cd copies 'on the fly' i never have!

The problem gets much worse if you get a second hd, as it would be really good to have hd's on separate ide channels, but there can be problems mixing hd's and cd's on the same cable.

Hope this is useful

see ya
