Has anyone here had the chance to test out Canopus Proencoder? I have heard that it yields results better than CCE or TMPG. You can find more info here :

http://www.canopus.com/US/products/ProCoder/pm_procoder.asp

If it does give better results I would most definitely change over but I was wondering if any of you had it or heard of it.

Thanks

Use the Forum search button:

"Procoder"

And amongst others, you will find (FROM 19th JULY!):

Procoder IS a decent encoder, but it is not better than TMPGEnc or CCE - it's just more flexible. Speed is approaching CCE, but not quite. It basically comes down to what source material you are using (format and also whether you are dealing with YUV or RGB footage). It's worth noting that mb1 found some very nasty artifacts in his Procoder test-encodes. I do not know if Canopus have remedied this issue yet.

Since the last post on the above link, Canopus have updated Procoder yet again. I have not seen the changelog/history, however.

*Incidentally*, the speed at which Procoder encodes is (as with TMPGEnc) very much dependent on the motion-search accuracy/quality which you select.

I have been playing with procoder. It yields better quality then CCE in mastering quality selected, and i'm a CCE fan.
Speed is a little slower, and much slower in mastering quality. I'm using 2XMP1700+.
If you have allready CCE, i would keep my money...

Advantage beside high quality mpeg, is the many different formats, possibility to apply filters to your source material, and it is fast.
Quality of mpeg1 is very good, but tmpeg gives better quality in mpeg1, IMHO.
