View Full Version : I-Author problems

I am having problems with I-Author. I want to rip Men In Black with 5.1 sound. When using VCDXBuild with either the setting stereo or 5.1 sound under Audio, the conversion works fine. But when I use I-Author everything is OK up to when I-Author starts. Then I keep getting the message " Max bitrate is 2914000, will not be accepted". And then it restarts I-Author and 10 secs later the same message, it restarts and the program ends up in a loop. If I press Exit, dvd2svcd freezes, I-Author starts manually and somehow muxes the audio and video together. This results in a .cif file. What is going on? Here is my log file:

Lower your total bitrate ... as described in your other thread, it might be a good idea to lower your video bitrate instead of the audio.
And then it restarts I-Author and 10 secs later the same message, it restarts and the program ends up in a loop. If I press Exit, dvd2svcd freezes, I-Author starts manually and somehow muxes the audio and video together. This results in a .cif file.dvd2svcd detects the error, and if subtitles are present, the first ones are sequentially deleted to circumvent the problem. This is the behaviour you are observing (even if no subs are present as in your project).
I-Authoring is a 2-step process. The muxer produces the error above, if it somehow succeeds, it will create an mps file. This is then used by I-author to generate the SVCD image as a cif file. Is your cif image functional, btw?

Okay, I will try to lower the video bitrate (by the way in the other thread someone suggested raising the audio to 384 which is what I have done). Any suggestions to what?
The creation of the mps file is perhaps my biggest problem at the moment. It does not happen at all. I am wondering if my version of I-Author is limited in regards to how many times it can be used. It will not work in combination with dvd2svcd or manually.
The cif file seems to work. I can convert it to bin/cue files and these can then be loaded in Dameon Tools. The sound I will have to check tonight.

The other poster told you to raise the bitrate because otherwise it would sound crappy (even a plain VCD uses 224 for only two channels). Therefore lowering the video might be the wiser decision.

How did you convert the CIF files to BIN ????

Aren't most, if not all, DVD/SVCD players capable of playing 5.1 audio SVCDs ?

thanks

cif to bin/cue: read the FAQ/Q&A, the needed software is listed there.
5.1 SVCD and standalone: Do a search, there are some threads about this and also ome in the FAQ/Q&A.
posting again: First read the stickys and forum rules.
