i have been using TMPG to convert all of my movies from .avi and .divx (3 and 4) for some time, recently got hold of some divx5 movies and need to convert them to mpeg in order to burn to svcd. TMPG seems to encode the video fine but the audio is scraychy and jumpy and mostly in-audible.
Any ideas?

If the audio sounds fine when played back through Windows Media Player, you can try opening up the DivX file in VirtualDub, from the audio menu choose "Full Stream Processing" and then from the file menu "Save Wav"
Then use the video from the DivX file and the audio from the wav file when doing your encoding. Using Toolame might help get a little better quality from the file.
If the audio sounds bad to begin with, I think you're probably SOL.
