planet of the apes

I've been trying to rip the planet of the apes for a couple of days now to no avail....I am usind DVD2SVCD and CCE....CCE hangs at 49%....have also tried another disk and that also hangs at 49%....So I used TMPGenc instead and that worked fine....until I played back the movie on power DVD and the movie plays fine, but I get annoying boxes on the screen where the cast of the film are talking about the film itself ( whilst the film is playing in the background )....I've done numerous rips before with no problems....is this because I am trying to rip planet of the apes special edition or am I doing something wrong....I've never encountered this happening before

Hi.

I ripped the same movie myself and it went fine.

For some reason, you encoded the "Director's Commentary" that is available in the DVD.

What I noticed was that the movie on SmartRipper had two angles with almost the same length, almost 2 hours. However, the VOB files were the same.

So, I think that the commentary is playing the movie on the background and people are talking for the film on the foreground.

Try to rip the other angle. I had the dilemma myself, but I must have chosen the right one by chance. Good luck.

01:54:11...is this the one to rip so that I don't get the directors cut? As I Don't understand what you mean by ripping angles

I can't be sure, because I did not encounter the same problem, but I think that you should rip the other angle, that is the 1:54:11 (if you ripped the first one and it did not work).

Actually, the VOB files that exist in the DVD and seem to contain the movie are only once. So probably, in the director's cut, it just plays the movie and adds on the comments.

Try it and tell me if the other angle worked.
