this is a little of subject but does anyone know of a place were i can download avi or mpeg movies? :)

Movies are not necessarily illegal (just like mp3 per se is not illegal, even some people from the press think so...).

There are some free movies on www.divx.com

but isn't the act of distributing copyright material ilegal? So I thought that would be considered Warez.

The (very few) free videos on Divx.com are not copyrighted (or at least they are meant to be distributed freely). They always feature some short films by independent artists, and I guess there's other sites with tons of this kind of free stuff.

However I also think that mrknowalot had in mind illegal copies of non-free movies, but I was trying to be a bit sarcastic ;)
