The Hole - Deinterlace Noob Pulling His Hair Out

has anybody here encoded 'the hole' (ntsc) to divx or xvid and can give me some suggestions as to hoe to deinterlace it?

so far i used

telcide()
greedyhma 1000000
greedyhma 0000000
greedyhma 1000100
bob
fieldeinterlace()
smartdeinterlacer file+frame thr10&15

in all cases, the deinterlacing either does not work or the picture is badly distorted

since the source is ntsc u should first try to inverse telecine it.
try decimate after telecide (together) or try the tmpgenc way described in doom9 guides.
if u decided to treat it as a pure interlaced use tomsmocomp.

since dvd2avi 1.76 reports it as ntsc, interlaced and since all attempts to inverse telecine it resulted in choppy motion, i will try tomsmocomp
