Do you think it is possible to make a special version of mpeg2dec that use dvb card like happauge nexus for decoding mpeg2. In deed some dvb software like watchtvpro offer the possibility to read *.vob in hardware mode that use 0% of cpu. So if it is possible, i think we will able to encode faster into mpeg4.
PS: sorry for my poor english.

...i wish i had a sat-receiver and a dvb card...
..., - but the answer is no - not possible (from what i know)!
I think the dvb card is only able to DECODE the MPG Stream whether its a sat transport stream or a *.vob file...
You want to ENCODE which is possible in Hardware, but I guess you won´t get results like with a software solution for a resonable price...
Hope this helps

What he wants to do is use it to decode, not encode.
But regardless it will most certainly not work. Most likely the card simply will output to the screen whatever you do, it will not ever be able to report it back to anything that wants to then encode the outputted video. The same thing could be said about the old RealHollywood+ card - the only way you could encode their output is by hooking the S-Video out up to your capture card. These cards are specifically designed to playback for viewing - not for decoding to then be put into a directshow filterchain or a VFW output. And plus they probably would not be able to handle non-realtime output, thus unless your computer could take hte DVD output and encode it in realtime, you'd be SOL anyway.

For that I think you can use specific driver that control directly the card like do multidec (or dscaler for the analog tv card), and with it you can do anything with the output of the card.

Thanks for your replies.
