View Full Version : get rectangular white block when capturing video?!

I have a nvidia WDM video capture card and am using a gforce video card on a pentium 4 2ghz Medion pc running Windows XP home edition. I am trying to archive some of my tapes. I called up the medion technical support and they said that it has something to do with copyright protection in the hardware/software
another program powervcr2 showed the white rectangular block whenever I was trying the view the video from one of my video games

HOWEVER, I noticed that virtualdub does not show the white rectangular block in the preview box, but only when I recorded, encoded, and played the video files with my computer

I looked at the video tapes that I have and they have no macrovision feature so I don't know what's causing the video card to do this

 :(

any help would be greatly appreciated

if this is a copyright protection issue, is there anyway to overwrite the hardware/software?

Try nVidia WDM capture driver 1.08, it solved this problem.

new_age, if you had the same problem, I read somewhere that you can also use a different registry path if the dirver doesn't work, did you have to do that?

what driver did it previousely have?

I meant to say what did "they" previousely have in place of this new driver?

I'v tried 1.11 and have the same result you mentioned.
Then downgraded back to 1.08 that works fine. I don't know what is the difference I'm not working at nVidia software development. :)
