I've read many posts on here and also Derrows guides (very good they are too)
just a questions if no one minds answering it :)

I ripped Jurassic Park 3 to my HD, and just want the movie only on the DVD-R, therefore I kept VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB, VTS_01_4.VOB and used Ifoedit .932 to generate the VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_01_0.IFO.
It works ok on my PC but not in my standalone player.

I've read in these forums that you require the (any) VIDEO_TS.VOB file.
Is this true and would this be the most likely reason for the film not playing in my standalone ?
If I do add a VIDEO_TS.VOB file, should I remake the IFO files and/or Get VTS sectors or will that mess up my current IFO files and make them point to a VIDEO_TS.VOB that might not be from the same movie ?

I have copied other DVDs with no problems but they have all managed to fit on a DVD-R without any stripping of menus etc. (small films with not many extras)

I rarely need to ask questions, but I'll only ask If I cant find the specific answer anywhere and since I'm a newbie to DVD burning I thought I'd ask the oldies

cheers

Hello, did you check the correctly box with a checkmark?
After you rip the dvd with Dvddecrypter ( for example ) you need to treat the VOBS with Ifoedit. In this case you need to select strip streams, correct vobunit pointers, correct ifotables and create new video_ts_ifo and vts_01_0_ifo. If you forget this steps it will not work proplely. After this steps donīt forget to get Vts Sectors. This step is very importante, because if you donīt do this the dvd wiil not work on you dvd player.

sorry if I appear daft but
so should I be ok with just the VTS_01_x.VOB files or do I need a re-rip .
I still have the VTS_01_x.VOB files on my HD but not the rest of the VOBs (they were just trailers, making of the film etc)

i do still have all the original IFOs though.

Hello,
you donīt need to re-rip them again after the correct steps.
After the ripping you selected the VOBS you wanted ( only the movie right? )with Ifoedit. So now you have all Vts_01_xxVOBS and the VIDEO_TS that Ifoedit created for you. This process is automatic if you selected the corrected options.
What i undestand you told me is that on your HD are the original VOBS of the movie and the created by Ifoedit on an other paste. On the paste is what you wanted to be ( you selected the language, subtitle ). you must know the size of all VOBS you have before you tried to burn it. On Ifoedit open an VOB file and click on disc image to see if the total file size of the movie is not to big. If it fits chosee get vtssectors and ifoedit will correct them. I believe you already did all this, if so now you have all you need ( except the compatibility of the dvdplayer/standallone ), but this is not your first time, so it plays dvd-r ( but did you tried another marc on this last burn? ).
If this not work try see the vobs you have with VOBRATOR, because you can have a corrupt file.
