The usual reason for getting mpeg audio is simply that there is mpeg audio on the DVD! It was a long time since I saw one of them DVD's with MPEG sound, but I think that you need to manually convert the mpe to wav before starting GKnot. Besweet and WinAmp are very well suited for this task.

You don't even have to convert to wav when you want mp3 output (at least for mp2).
When using Gknot, you can just select the .mpa as audio file (you'll obviously have to slect 'all files' as filetype so you can see the .mpa in diolog box).
Gknot is going to start BeSweet, just if it were an ac3. It works fine, although I sometimes think that it's a little over amplified.

Just shows how long it was since I had a MPEG sound DVD. It must have been over a year, since I obviously haven't done any since I started with GKnot about a year ago.
