Hi,

I'm a newbie and have the following question.

Everywhere I read that you should never use the DownSample from 48KHZ -> 44.1KHZ. I know you lose some audio info during the conversion!

I've tested SVCD/VCD in several DVD players and read comments from multiple users that they have problems with SVCD/VCD that use 48KHZ audio.

Sony DVP725 -> Audio Complete out of sync!
JVC XVs300 -> Audio Okay but Video jumps every second or so.
Philips DVP625 -> Little Audio Sync problem
Pioneer seems to have audio sync problem
Samsung seems to have audio sync problem

I know that the B brands seem to have no problem with 48KHZ.

Could somebody please advise on this, as I'm lost.

Regards,

Hawk

1) There is no hearable quality loss if you downsample from 48 to 44,1KHz, because AC3 has a lowpass already by 20,3KHz (-> somewhere by 40,6KHz sampling, this is far from 44,1!)

2) If your DVD player plays 48KHz fine, fine! if not sample down to 44,1KHz and all will be fine! as said you won't miss anything from sound, don't care too much about theories, what count is what you hear or not hear ;)
